Question:

peel-n-stick tile?

Im putting that peel-n-stick tile stuff in my new apartment over the stuff thats there (i dont know what its called but its like plastic kinda) is there any thing i have to do other then sweep before i put the new one down?

Answer:

Scrub the floor thoroughly, use a deglazer (available at any hardware or home store) and let it dry completely before laying the new tiles. That will provide a better surface for the new tiles.
should be spotless, if the floor is not truly clean than the sticking tile will come loose
You don't have to remove the existing floor, but know that if it has a heavy textured pattern, that texture may show through on the new layer of tile. As suggested by the others, clean it thoroughly and use a product that will remove the wax coating from the existing floor. It should be dull in appearance once you've cleaned it.
you can get an adhesive that will clean the floor and also help the stick tiles adhere better..they sell it at lowes..we did this when we put peel and stick tiles down...and it did work..but we removed the floor the lino..which it sounds like thats what you have too...go to your local home improvment store and ask them...
