Question:

Photosynthesis/ Carbon fixation?

If you cover a leaf with aluminum foil and then cut matching shapes on each side of the foil, thus allowing the sunlight to only hit the shapes, then where does carbon fixation occur in the leaf? I realize it occurs in the stroma and it is my understanding that carbon fixation is not light dependent so does it still occur throughout the entire leaf? Also where would you expect to find glucose in the leaf? Thanks

Answer:

It would occur within the shape cutThere are light and dark reactions, carbon fixating being part of the dark reaction.
