Question:

Plastic sheet on carpet?

I have purchased a plastic sheets (similar to the office cair mate ) to put it on the carpet (only on the walk-way). But I don't know (the best way) how do I stick the plastic sheet to the carpet ?. Please help.I have used the packing tape to stick it together. It doesn't work well. Please help

Answer:

the plastic actually wears the carpet and makes it look bad very quickly. it would be better to plan on cleaning every 6 months or so. the little projections on the bottom rub back and forth against the carpet and it ends up looking pulled pilled like an old sweater!
if you bought the right kind it should have lil things like on the bottom of soccer shoes so that it adheres to the carpet
Not only do they wear the carpet as the previous person said, they also become tripping hazzards - especially for seniors who don't always lift their feet as high as the younger people do. To answer your question, you don't want to stick them to the the carpet as this will leave a sticky residue and can discolour your carpet.
instead of plastic runners why dont you just get small carpet runners?with those they have the rubber backing on them the cause friction on the carpet or you can use contact paper on the bottom to grip ?The ones with the small rubber spikes work well depending on the carpet we used them never had a problem.
if you want to save the carpet, take it up. its made to walk on, just use a carpet rake on it once a wk,
