Question:

Please help decorate us with our red sofa?

We have a small living room with a medium size window in. We currently have a very large (takes up most of the space) corner sofa in dark red and also the carpet is in red. So basically its very red in a small room. We want to decorate the room maybe with a feature wall opposite the sofa or behind it? We are really stuck for ideas and could do with some help of what colours to use in the room! We currently have one black feature wall and its very dark so would like something different from that, any suggestions would be helpful.ThanksNat

Answer:

Amber, sage and white make good contrast colors for red. Think of a French design. Red walls work. Add plenty of green fern-like plants, creamy white pillors or sage pillows.
Why do you need to sense like crap? Immitation is the main common form of flattery! Or are you afraid your mutual acquaintances won't savor your form and picture you copied HER? That pronounced, you may understand your buddy is a copycat from the rooms she's copied from different acquaintances. So, what makes you so particular that she would be able to no longer reproduction you the two? That pronounced, evaluate employing a distinctive shade/form for the upload-ons and cushions. And circulate the quirky unfashionable telephone to the workplace and replace it with a distinctive form. substitute a number of your different considerable products from different rooms - artwork, section rug etc. Paint an accessory wall in a superb shade. try this devoid of your buddy in on the understand. No blabbing. do exactly no longer invite her abode for a collectively as. Then carry a housewarming occasion to have fun your new abode. Then, little via little, circulate issues lower back to the place they have been as your buddy copies different human beings's strategies for her abode. As on your mutual acquaintances, nicely, they too understand Ms. Copycat is out to thieve their strategies too.
Because you have a small living room and a corner sofa that takes up most of the room, a feature wall is probably not a good idea. Because the couch is in the corner, you cannot have a feature wall behind the couch. I would abort the idea of a painted.feature wall in your situation. Your over sized couch and your rug are the same color. Red overload. Consider getting a small rug to place under your coffee table to break up all that red. This will also detract from the over sized couch and add a color pallet you can work with. So, whatever colors are in the rug should be repeated in the room with pillows and window treatments and paint. Green and red go very well together, however, pay close attention to the color green you select so your room does not look too much like a Christmas display. You may want to select some spicy autumn colors in golden tans, rusty oranges and greens from sage to chartreuse green would add warmth. Either black or chocolate brown accents would work, as well. If you really want a focal point on the wall that you are currently changing from black, you can achieve that goal without painting it a separate color from the rest of the walls. Go to a fabric store and find yourself a print that you absolutely love. Stretch the fabric over a large frame, staple to secure and hang. Or use three smaller frames and hang them in a row either vertically or horizontally. This would give you some impact. You could use that same fabric or coordinating fabric for couch pillows and wall color inspiration. In that case, a sisal rug under the coffee table would work out great. I hope my ideas have given you some inspiration.
