Question:

Pleaze tell me `How to plant gardens'!!!!!!!!?

My mom wants to make a vegetable garden/wild flower garden. We have a mediam sized front yard and our large backyard. Our backyard has barely any light. And our front yard is were our dogs go the bathroom. Can you please help us?! ~Thank You

Answer:

Most bulbs are easy to grow. Generally, the early spring bulbs are planted in the fall, like daffodils, tulips and hyacinth. They need to spend the winter in the ground. When it warms up in the spring you can plant summer flowering bulbs like Asiatic lilies and gladiolus. Day lilies too, but they are not bulbs. Those are all very easy to grow and available everywhere. Read the packages for sun requirements and depth of planting. For spring color you can always plant pansies. They are very hardy and will survive a frost. When they become available in your area, you can put them right in the ground and they will continue to bloom until it gets hot.
So find some old containers, put some soil from your back yard in them if its good soil, buy some little starter plants and enjoy. The answerer above that mentioned sweet 100 is right , they grow like a weed. Good luck and i know you will enjoy container gardening. Bandett :-)
Unfortunately, veggies need a sunny spot to grow. If your back yard is shaded, you won't have much luck there. If there's a sunny area in the front yard where a garden wouldn't look odd (or annoy the neighbors by its appearance or violate any local landscaping ordinances), you could build a simple raised bed with landscape timbers or rocks and soil and keep the dogs out of that area. The dogs would likely stay on the lawn area rather than crawl through the plants even if the bed wasn't raised.
From okorder on the internet. Strawberry's again a wine barrel or hanging basket works great for these. But you won't get an abundance of berries. Blue Berries, Black Berries. Work well in the barrels with a trellis in the pot with them for support. These don't have to be Half wine barrels but should be around the same size. I have several half wine barrels but I also bought much cheaper plastic pots that were the same size. The plastic ones don't last as many years as the wooden wine barrels tho. But they do work just as well.
I would suggest a container garden. You can grow many vegetables and herbs in containers, just place the containers in the sun and use containers tall enough so your dogs can't use them for toilets.
