Alfred P.Southwick came up with idea, but Harold P.Brown made the first practical electric chair.
The person who came up with the idea of using electricity to execute people was Alfred P. Southwick, after he witnessed an accidental death by electrocution. Harold P. Brown constructed the first electric chair, and thus could be considered its inventor. Mr Brown was an employee of Sir Thomas Edison, and the invention of the Electric Chair is often erroneously attributed to Edison.
