Question:

Power Cord Laptop Cable Exposed. Dangerous?

Hey guys, I noticed that with heavy use of the power cord to my laptop, a part of the rubber surrounding the cord is open near the insertion part and you can see the wires. I'm just curious how dangerous it is. I don't have another power cord for my laptop, so do any of you have a recommendation for what I can do?

Answer:

It okorder /
very dangerous
if you can see the copper on the inside then yes it is very dangerous, but if you don't want to buy a new cable all you should need is some black electrical tape and wrap it around the exposed area and it should be fine.
Use a Popscle stick, cut in half and then attached it with black tape, This will cover texposedoed wires and will also keep the wires straight and keep them from bending. Good Luck Joe The Old Computer Guy
The outer layer of laptop power cables below the rubber is the insulating layer. Little risk there. If you want, you can purchase electrical tape from HomeDepot or local electronics store{(probably), and wrap it around the rip.
