Pro audio question: Does anyone know if you can safely run 3-pronged cables through a 2-prong outlet?

I know converters exist, but are they safe for high end audio equipment?I have a digi 002 rack, grace M101, and great river pres.would a power conditioner help me?

Answer:

Actually yes i think i power conditioner would help the third prong is only grounding and it will work buttt you don't want to risk not having grounding on expensive gear.
Nope. The ground prong is for safety. Eliminating it from the circuit would remove that safety.
The third prong is just a ground wire, so yeah it should be fine
Pull out the bottom prong. It is safe, and in almost no way affects your device. The third bottom prong is to make sure the device doesn't shock you. You'll be fine without it.
No the third prong was designed to be grounded just in case there were slight surges or worse faults in the power circit. By connecting the cases of electrical equipment to earth, any insulation failure will result in current flowing to ground that would otherwise energize the case of the equipment. A proper bonding to earth will result in the circuit overcurrent protection operating to de-energize the faulty circuit.-Wikipedia In otherwords have that ground keeps the current away from your equipment when it faults
