Question:

problem with arpspoofing on backtrack 5 r3 virtual machine using VMware?

arpspoof: couldn't arp for host lt;target ip addressgt;that is the error i get when i type this command -arpspoof -i eth0 -t lt;target ip addressgt; lt;default gatewaygt;please tell me what to do.i have read other blogs and they ask to switch the vmware network adapter to bridged mode , but it still doesnt work for megive me a brief explanation if you canthanks.

Answer:

From what you've posted I'm about 100% sure the problem is improperly configured network settings on your VMware client - NOT any problem with BT, or arpspoofFirst thing I would do is try to ping back and forth between the VM guest and host to see if there is even any connection at all Seriously though, if you cannot figure out how to properly set the network configuration for your VMware client then you should probably just give this upThat said, it can be a bit tricky at timesespecially in a Windows host The easiest thing to do here is probably just to run BT from a USB drive rather than inside a VM.
