Question:

Problem with bathroom sink?

The cover over the drain on my bathroom sink wont open or close. Its barely open right now. But when I move the stick up or down the stopper wont move. The stick moves up and down just fine its just the stopper. If someone could please tell me how to fix this or give me a website that shows pictures and instructions that would be great.

Answer:

Go to Lowe's and tell them the problem. You need a little part- a screw. It's only like $2.

Handyman magazine, and readers digest have great books out...sounds like the stick broke off inside. Can you fit a small plumbers snake down it? Also, if you go to the local hardware store, they are really helpful may be able to help you more than most of the mega home improvement stores( at least that's been my experience)
There is a rod that moves the stopper up and down, this is connected to your stick, with a set screw in a U shaped bracket.. Look under the sink. You can just tighten that set screw.
under your sink above the trap you will find the pull arm [the thing you say moves up n down OK] there will be a 2nd arm going into the trap see if it ha come lose. move it up n down to free the plug,if not try to remove the plug with a pointed knife, on the base of the plug thereis a adjustment screw
