Question about bed rest?

When you are put on bed rest, are you allowed to get up and shower, use the restroom, make yourself meals? Or are you really supposed to stay in bed 24/7?

Answer:

Your doctor will tell you what your limitations are, but most of the time yeah you're supposed to be in the resting position whether it be in bed or on the couch.
Yes, you can shower, get up and make a quick meal and use the bathroom. Just need to be on the couch, recliner or in bed with your feet up as much as possible. And no strenuous activity. Have someone cook and clean for you if possible.
your suppose to stay in bed period you are allowed to use the restroom, but they dont want you making your own meals or taking a shower. thats what i was told each time i was on bed rest. they told me i had to do like a new born to take a bath. it sucks but it all depends why u are on bed rest, if it is to make sure you and your baby dont die, then it is well worth the suffering.
I was put on bed rest when I was pregnant with both of my children. During the last month, because of high blood pressure. I was only allowed to get out of bed to take a shower and use the bathroom. I had to have someone there with me 24/7 cook meals and help care for me.
My doctor when he put me on bed rest in my last pregnancy said I was only allowed to walk to the restroom, stairs were out of the question, and I could only stand up in the shower for 10 minutes a day and that was it. But it really depends on what you are on bed rest for and if you are supposed to be on strict bed rest or not so strict... Your doctor usually explains it to you what he wants you to do and not do when he orders it for you.
