Question About Bleeding Brakes?

Hello,I have a 1987 Pontiac Fiero and I have just recently bought a new master cylinder for the brakes. It says I need to bleed the breaks, how do i do that? Thanks-

Answer:

The best way is to gravity bleed its free. All you have to do is fill your brake fluid resivor but dont put the top back on it then get under the vehicle and open up the points at the end of your brake line. BUT this is not something you want to do with out help or atleast someone who knows because it is a very delicate issue if you dont do it properly well your brakes fail. I would either do some research about gravity bleeding your brakes prior or take the car down to a cheap shop. Good luck.
Several thing about that question bother me. You purchased a major brake system component and you do not know how to bleed the hydraulic system. The bleeder nipples on each caliper can break off. Sure old dirty fluid needs to be changed But do you have a way to lift all four wheels off the ground? Please Seek out a professional or some one experenced in brake repair and follow the bleeding procedure for that specific car. You open each bleeder one at a time and using the brake pedal pump the fluid out until clear and clean. I use a clear hose one end emersed in fluid in a brake fluid can. The other end pushed over a pre loosened bleeder nipple. Once you start you have to finish do not drive a car in which the brakes were not bleed properly.
