Here's some info on yoga and muscles Mobilising muscles - tend to be longer and superficialThey make big movement and fatigue quicklyThey work at 40-100% of their efficiency) maximum voluntary contraction) e.ghamstrings – flex knee Ext the HipStabilising muscles – tend to be shorter and deeperThey work for long periods therefore need enduranceThey work at 20-30% of their natural MVCThey stabilise the body and allow you to move efficiently and stop you falling overWhen these two types of muscles work perfectly the body is balanced, all the muscles work in synergy and joints are held in their optimal (neutral) positions e.gperfect postureWhen the muscles are working correctly there is minimal wear and tear on the jointsYoga and pilates aim to redress the balance in the system, altering the way in which you recruit muscles to produce movement and change the way you use your body, restoring normal movement by allowing muscles to work effectivelySo yoga essentially exercises your muslces an improves posture, but won't necessarily help you lose weight, that comes with aerobic exercises to burn caloriesYoga will tone your body and help keep muscles in good nick, but not burn fat.
squates - standing, legs apart, then lower your body down like you would do to sit down but keeping your feet flat to the floor, make sure you can still see your toes while doing thisrepeat 20 times or twice over one dayI find pilates to be good, but if you dont know the moves then you should purchase the DVD for bum and thigh work outs, also yoga is really good, it helps stretch out your body and relax, below is a link to some basic yoga moves that can be easlie done at he office or at home
For strength exercises you could do the following: Push-ups, wall squats, lunges, sit-ups, bridges, prone holds, side holds, chair dips, etcIt is tough to get a legit cardio workout without the aid of machines, but jumping rope is one thing you could do.
