Question about my tires?

Hello everybody,I have a question about All year tires. I know that if the tire says M+S and has a snowflake symbol, then its a snow tire. If the tire says M+S with no symbol, its a all year tire. I also knos that some all year tires wont even say M+S. I have 2 tires that dont have M+S. All the tire says is 185/65 R14 86T. Is this an all year tire? Its a Kumho tire. It says Power Star if im correct. Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:

M+S means mud and snow. Most all year tires do say M+S. Tires that do not say M+S should not be used in snow. They should be used only in the summer and in places where it does not snow.
M+S means Mud and Snow, these tires are designed for offroad and/or winter conditions. the 185/65 R14 86T is your tire's size and speed rating, it has nothing to do with the tread. it's not a good idea to drive with snow tires in warmer climates, they burn up very quickly.
The Kuhmo Power Star is an economy, absolutely no-frills, rock-bottom basic tire. It is black, round and holds air. You could do better with just about anything else. A tire with the MS (or M+S) label means the tire has at least the minimum amount of voids (tread grooves) to meet RMA requirements for a MS tire. It NEVER has to be tested for performance in Mud or Snow to qualify for this rating. A tire with the Snowflake symbol meets RMA requirements for winter performance. The qualifications to achieve this rating are not as strict as they should be either but manufacturers at least try much harder on tires with the Snowflake label as this is a highly competitive if small segment of the market.
