Question about pressing a flower...?

I would like to press a purple carnation I got 3-4 days ago. I would prefer to press it onto just a piece of normal printer paper. What would be the best way to press my carnation (w/out getting any books dirty!)? I've never pressed a flower before, so I need all the details - should I cut off them stem, should I press the flower on its side or on its center, etc. Thank you (and yes, I will be marking someone as having the best answer - 10 points baby!) And yeah, I know this is a weird question :P

Answer:

I have pressed flowers in the past with good results. Copy paper will do. You can either trim some of the stem or leave as is (as long as it's manageable). Place it on its side between two sheets of copy paper and place something heavy on top. I would suggest to use something like a manila folder on top the copy paper---then put a book on top or something else that's heavy. Leave it undisturbed for awhile. I am not sure at least a month---maybe more. I still have pressed flowers that I have had for 10+ years. Good luck!
