Question:

question for carpet installers?

In new construction, with concrete floors.I am putting in bifold closet doors which have a track on both the top and bottom of the door.Should I wait until the carpet is in to put the track on the floor, or should I put it in and let the carpet installer carpet up to both sides of the track? Thanks.

Answer:

Let them lay the carpet, and then screw your tracking down.
Call the carpet store and ask them. If the carpet and pad are thick it may be 1 to 1 1/2 thick or even more. Will your doors fit on top of the carpet, will the track be solid or will the door wobble on top of the carpet. If the carpet is flat and you are gluing it down it may be OK. If on top of the carpet you will need to remove it before you replace the carpet . Put the track down and have the carpe fit to the track.
