Question:

Question on bicycle wheels.?

A few weeks ago my bike got vandalized. I was able to fix everything but the wheels since they were bent so bad. So now i need to buy new wheels and i know nothing about sizes. The tires say 700 x 45c. and it has 36 spokes. Are all 700c wheels the same size or does the x45 thing make a difference? and does it matter what brand i get or will any thing fit?Its a mongoose with Shamano gears.

Answer:

700c is the size, 45 is the width. Some frames have a width limit for the wheels, so unless you know your frame can handle something bigger, as long as that number is 45 or smaller, it's fine. For a road bike 45 is pretty wide anyway. The number of spokes don't matter. 28 32-spoke wheels will be lighter, but 36-spokes wheels are stronger. So you can replace it with a lighter wheel if you want.
probably not tightening the gas cover all the way. I know it sounds strange, but I have a Pontiac and it happens to me. my dad runs a service shop and I have to take it in to get the service light turned off.
The computer getting a 'out of range' signal from one or more sensors will cause the check engine light to come on. Any decent mechanic can read the codes and tell you what the problem is. Please don't follow the advice someone is bound to give about disconnecting your battery to clear the trouble codes. All that will do is make it harder to find the problem.
If the vandalised size is 700 X 45C with 36 spokes, buy the same specification The brand may not varies very much, but make sure the replacement wheelsets are double wall rims (single wall rims can wrap when you brake hard) The rear hub must be Shimano compatible to re-cycle the existing cassette
The x45 thing makes a difference. You need a 700 cm, or 29 diameter rim, wide enough to accept a 45 mm tire. Same diameter wheels come in different widths. Light racing rims fit very narrow tires, strong mtb/hybrid rims, much wider tires.
