Question:

Quiet Exhaust for 98 civic ex?

I got my first car which is a 98 civic ex coupe, Auto(unfortanatly) It has the peanut stock exhaust on it and i would like to put a new one. I want one that does to make that much sound that sounds like a fart can. But one that is if not completly quiet but can not be heard miles down the road. I just want an exhaust system to get rid of the old one. Thanks

Answer:

Opinion. Something with gasket or fuel pump or something. Demaged catactlictic? If it was something like a sensor itd stay on. If i was u i woulda gotten fixed a while ago. But have you noticed if the car wastes a bit more gas than it should? Well anyways, u should be fine. But get it fixed within a month cuz a drive that far, ur guna makeit a bit worse
Do you leave the car running when you gas up? Do you make sure the gas cap is tight? If its happening after you fill up with gas then its probably not a big deal but you should have someone look the car over for you before you drive it that far. It sucks to break down on the road and it can be very dangerous.
HONDA CIVIC FULL CAT-BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM -- FITS ON 92-00 HONDA CIVIC EK 2DR COUPE / 4DR SEDAN ONLY EK/DX/HX IF YOUR CARS MODEL IS NOT ONE OF THE ABOVE THEN NO IT WILL NOT FIT.
Why are you getting rid of the old one?? If your looking to improve the performance of your car from peanut status --yes you need to increase the size of the pipe from your exhaust manifold back but unfortunately the bigger the pipe the more the noise. Remember Quietpeanut and Loudermore hp(less restriction). Im sure there are some mufflers that are not the buzz bombs but dont cross your fingers! GOOD LUCK!
Buy a whole exhaust system not just a muffler, those universal mufflers that are welded on do a crappy job and won't add power, just lots of noise. Save up and look into the A'Pexi WS2 Exhaust System or the GReddy EVO2 Exhaust System. They're both really good systems, quiet for daily driving and not too noticeable but under full throttle they let you know they're there. Another way to make the car sound a bit better is to upgrade the Intake System. AEM, KN and Injen are some good brands. AEM makes some of the best intakes you can buy. Look into their Short-ram Intake, not the Cold-Air Intake, with the CAI you risk Hydrolock and on your daily it's not a good idea.
