Question:

Radiant barrier, new insulation, or both?

OK, live in Dallas, bombarded by mailers from various peopleI'm feeling the need to do something (electric bill in summer-oy!) but am wondering which is better, or should I do both? Costco sent me an email this morning about :quot; No, eShield is a multi-layer thermal reflective insulationNot only does eShield prevent radiant heat transfer, but also has a high density fiberglass core which has a certified R-value of 11.6Radiant barriers only prevent radiant heat transfer and have no R-value—which means no resistance to heat flowquot;whaddya think, guys? And what is the cash outlay? have about 2500sq ft two storey houseThanks!

Answer:

Firstmake sure you have thermal insulating blinds on ALL your windowsWindows are the biggest heat transfer items in your houseIf they're not covered, your house will be MUCH colder in winter, and much hotter in summerDouble cellular shades are best, as they trap air, insulating the inside from heat or coldSome even have reflective coats on the outside to reflect radiant (sunlight) heat back.
A one hour and thirty minute flight? You should be fineWhat's the worst that could happen? Someone talking to you or moving you to first class? I have flown on 4 hour flights before and I was fineI'm 14 too.
ok a friend just did the same thing and it all went well she is 13 and this is what she didarrive on time and check in and go to your gateReally go and find the gateThen go to the restroom kill a little time, go buy a magazine and waitonce you are on the plane read you will be fine! stay alert.
i think i was around 12 the first time i flew alone and it was about the same amount of time of flighti was seated next to a man and just kept to myselfi read and listened to my ipod2 weeks ago i flew alone again and was finejust keep to yourself don't talk to strangers and you will be finekeep your friend/parents updated as to when you are boarding your flight if it is on time or delayed and when you take off and when you land] also have your mom/dad ask someone at the airline to keep an eye on you or be there if you are confusedor just ask them yourself and say its my first time traveling alone can you help methey will be glad to and that is what my mom did for me the last time i flew alone and my flight was delayed for 4 hours.
There is nothing to worry aboutJust keep to yourself and don't cause any troubleIf a creepy sort of person ends up sitting next to you on the plane you can always ask one of the flight attendants to move you to another seat.
