Question:

rats and running wheels?

ok so i was wondering are running wheels bad for rats? because the cage i have ordered comes with one. shoulld i take it out?

Answer:

Leave it there! They love them just as much as mice or hamsters. I bet they are nice!! Hope I helped you decide!
Yeah, rats love wheels. Just make sure it's large enough for it to run comfortably in.
they aren't bad for them its good exercise IF the rat will run in it. some rats just don't, i had two rats who lived together years one would run the wheel and one never went near it. if it decides it doesnt want to run its wheel take it out and give it some free space to run.
Some rats enjoy the wheels other don't, it really depends on their personality. If you decide to keep it check that it is the right size andrat proof" (as in it is a fully covered wheel if that makes sense no gaps or breaks) as rats can injure themselves really easy by getting their tails caught.
Most okorder .au/wheels.htm okorder /product-list/... Wire wheels are not recommended, so if you have one, I suggest not to use it. They are paw and tail traps that are waiting for an accident. Most wheels have bits that can trap a tail or a couple of paws. Its best to use only select wheels. Some rats will use their wheel, some won't. I's usually a guessing game to see if they like it, but its always nice to give it a go. Hope I helped!
