you could ask, but they probably won't know they won't mind feilding your inquiry though..
If there is any doubt, change the belt. The cost of the belt and labor is small compared to the damage done by a broken belt

Ok, if its a V6 motor, its overdue for replacement; it won't be inexpensive even if you have a non dealership do it; the V6 motor is a pain to do and always replace the water pump and the two rollers as well. Normally, the 4 cylinder turbo gets a belt between 90 /105k miles, but its also time based in replacement. Rubber (or its replacement material) ages over time and looses its tensile strength, so the belt should be replaced at the 7 year mark, regardless of milage. As with the V6, replace the water pump and also cam and crank seals as well as the roller (and it goes without saying, but the regular belts at the same time). The previous author said he did not have any issues with a belt in 134,000 miles, I'd say he's lucky beyond all measure. I've had a few customers break the timing belt before the scheduled replacement and in one case, it was necessary to replace the block, one piston and one cylinder head assembly. (It was a V6). Sometimes you can tell if the belt has been replaced; if it doesn't have a visible VW - Audi logo on it and looks fresh or recent, then its probably been replaced. If does have the VW - Audi logo on it, check the markings on the belt, sometimes the actual date of manufacture is marked on it; sometimes you just cannot know. It's false economy to not replace it if you don't know for sure; the reports are correct in assuming it will fail before 75k if its a V6 motor the 4 cylinder motor should be ok for a while longer However, given the age of the vehicle, I'd replace the belt on your vehicle just in case.If there is any doubt about it; replace the belt. The cost of repairing a motor far exceeds the cost of a belt replacement, plus you'll feel comfortable knowing that you won't have to do it again anytime soon.
