Answer:

Resin casting is very safe and when done with moderate quantities only requires a ventilated space and protective gloves. All that other stuff you name becomes important if you are working with larger quantities and when working resin into fiberglass. I would expect a 12 year old to work under good supervision to learn good practices. I would expect that a well behaved 16 year old could be let loose with materials and instructions. Silicone rubber mold making is safer but more expensive than latex molds.
First of all it doesn't matter what insurance company you are with, but the type of policy that you have. Deductibles also vary depending on what your policy says. Second, this does not sound like an accident or crime that was reported to authorities, more like your stupidity. Most auto insurance damage coverage if for damage occurred during an accident (collision) or theft. This doesn't appear to qualify unless you were somehow involved in a single car collision where you maybe fell asleep at the wheel and then parked your car on top of a sidewalk. At least that can be the story that you tell the police on the report, which is what the insurance company will likely need to classify it as an accident and then be able to take action to fix Read your policy and find out what type of coverage you do have or contact your agent. Dont go directly to the insurance company just yet. Unless you are paying an obscene amount of money for insurance you probably dont have super coverage where they would just fix anything wrong with your car. Depending on the type of your car, replacing it yourself could be cheaper than paying any associated deductibles or higher premiums due to the accident. On a side note, please be aware of your insurance coverage type before buying it. You should know if your insurance will cover this. You could be paying more for an inferior product. You wouldn't buy anything else without knowing exactly what you are paying for would you?
