Question:

Remove Candle Wax From Carpet?

I just dropped a candle on my light colored carpet and red candle wax is everywhere. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Answer:

Use a brown paper lunch bag, put it over the wax and use an iron and the wax will soak into the paper....it works every time!
Use a butter knife scrap off as much as possible. Next use some paper, such as news paper or typing paper put an iron on low heat....use the paper over the wax heat it with the iron. The heat will draw the wax into the paper...be very careful ... don't leave the iron for a long time ... keep checking how it is doing ... as it draws into the paper ... keep changing it with fresh paper so you don't spread the wax ... don't melt your carpet with high heat settings. Good luck.
Place ice-cubes on the wax until the ice starts to melt then scrape away as much wax as possible with a blunt knife, then lay sheets of paper towel over the wax.Using a cool iron go over the area.If a greasy mark remains rub with a little tea tree oil. I would try it on a small section first as this is used on material so am not sure it will work on carpet.
Well I am not totally sure but perhaps if you heat water until it is scalding hot and pour it on the spot then dab at it with a towel. Do this a couple of times until the wax is gone. I don't know if it will work for sure but at least it wont ruin that spot on the carpet so much by cutting and scraping at it. If you are not worried about the carpet so much then cut it but it sounds like that you are worried about it or you wouldn't try and clean it at all. I would try the scalding hot water. Cant hurt it. I think it will work though. Then after you do that try a carpet cleaner that you can spray on and vacuum up. Might draw out any wax that is left over. Don't boil the water though, I don't know if it will melt the synthetic fibers in the carpet or not if it is boiling water. Good luck hope it works.
My husband owns a carpet cleaning company and I just asked him and he says to simply get a brown or white paper bag (grocery bag or lunch bag will work), Lay a single layer of this paper over top of the wax, get an iron and simply iron over the paper. The wax will transfer to the paper bag and remove itself from your carpeting. He cautions that you should not leave the iron on the paper too long. Once you apply the iron to the paper you will immediately see the wax attach itself to the paper. Good Luck!
