Question:

Replacements for parchment paper in cooking?

For mother's day I wanted to make my mom meringue cookies (her favorite) and the recipe calls for parchment paperI don't, however, have any parchment paperAre there any replacements for parchment paper? And if there are, what are they? Help would be nice:) Thank you.

Answer:

it's just to keep the stove cleaner
to counter attack the spills that happen from boil overs and etcan its easy clean up for whenever you move out of one apartment to the next less clean up.
It wouldn't think it would make it any hotterI assume she did it to protect the stove, but that isn't really necessary.
The heat reflects off the foil I guess and warms the eyes even more.
You could use aluminum foilHowever the cookies may stick a bitWhen you try to lift them off the foil sort of peel the foil off the cookie don't try to lift the cookie off the foilGood luckYou may want to invest in some nonstick pan linersThey are reusable and come in many sizes so they can be cut to fit your pansThey are the color of a teflon pan but they feel like a fabric that has been coatedI roll them up and they take up almost no roomI used them for a while then broke down and got the parchment paper and I love itFairly inexpensive if you get it at a warehouse store.
