Question:

rugs, people?

is it okay to wash rugs in the washing machine? it won't damage it, or cause damage to future loads?

Answer:

yes if it fits and was inexpensive. don't do it if it was an expensive pile rug, oriental, or if you have contrasting colors- red and cream, black and white, etc. don't dry them in the dryer though.
wha ttype of rug i'd think twice about this and if you need to go on gentle cylce with woollite product.or ask the cleaners ps i heard if you put a bit of salt in this will hold the colors
Take and wash them on cold delicate cycle. Wash with Woolite or dreft. If it has a stain throw a bit of borax in the load. Just make sure you put it on delicate though. If you don't it may ruin them.
If they are washable rugs. Otherwise, yes you could very well damage the material the rugs are made from and could cause damage to a regular washing machine.
Depends on the care label of the rug. Some rug fibers cannot handle agitation and will clog the filters. Or some rugs will just fall apart. I have washed small throw rugs in my washer fine.
