For starters, how old is the detector? You should replace them every ten years, battery and hardwired models both. Next, push the TEST button. If the unit squeals, it's probably okay. But that green LED should come on, if it doesn't check to be sure you have the battery in correctly.
If you were having an inspection done, the inspector would question it. This is a DIYers helper. It will slow down the flow of water and is prone to starting a clog in the ridges. They are not very strong and will leak much sooner than regular pipe. If at all possible, use ridgid pipe and fittings. I won't say they are against code, just not a great option.
