i got my scaffold piercing 6 days ago and the piercing was fine but the pain in the healing process is more painful.my ear is getting itchy but it doesn't hurt. it only hurts if i knock it by accident but that pain goes away quicklyi'm just checking that the itch is a healing sign and not an infection signTHANKKKKS :D
It's normal for ear piercings on cartilage to itchy. It's a effect of the healing process. They are also sensitive when you first get them pierced, unless it hurts all the time, even when you don't touch it, that could be a sign of infection. If that happens take it out and go see the person that pierced it. :-)
Itchiness is normal. Don't scratch it and make sure your hands are clean and all that good stuff whenever you touch it for cleaning purposes.
My scaffold piercing did the same thing. As long as there are no bizarre liquids and there's no obvious change in how it looks since it was pierced, it shouldn't be an infection.Try not to touch it too much or you might risk an infection - use sea salt and warm water to clean it and maybe then an antibacterial agent like tea tree oil (your piercer should have told you all of this anyway). Any discomfort shouldn't last more than two or three weeks but everyones healing times are different. If you're still worried about it don't hesitate to go back to your piercer - aftercare is just as important as the piercing itself and it's their job to answer any questions you might have. :)
