Question:

Security forces additional info on the missle bases?

I leave for basic november 27th, and chose USAF Security forces. Just wanted some additional information on the missle bases like minot, malmstrom and fe warren. Information i am looking for entails base quality in general, outdoor activitys, how long a SF member gets stationed there and the job itself. Guessing i guard the missles starting out, but would i be able to test for est, have the possiblity to go to counter sniper school, srt.. Also, wannt a little information on Moody, Georgia AF base, Heard about the program ghostwalkers and the 820th, 822nd, 824th. How hard is it to get transfered to that base. Thanks for your time, dan

Answer:

Yep... guarding launch sites and silo sites. And not just starting out. Even the NCOs are out there. Generally 4 days out, 3 days home. Additional schools... have no idea. Also, at these base there are 2 different SF Squadrons or groups. One that mans and guards the base and the other that guards the missile field. You could be assigned to either one. Those that have a nuclear mission.... not very many deployments. The base SF never goes, and the missile SF goes as IAs, so in small groups. Plenty of outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, skiing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, etc. . (Yes, they are all cold and snowy!) These are not the bases to go to if you like bright lights and big cities.
