Question:

Servo master cylinder for car brakes?

I have sentro car. From last few days, the brake pedal of my car become soft to push. Brakes are applied. My mechanic told that it need to change the servo master cylinder. My question is what are other symptoms for replacement? How does it effect while driving? Does it can cause of brake failure? Please help.

Answer:

yes . anywhere in the universe as far as we know. because space time is the same everywhere.
Sure, magnets will work. A compass wont, however.
You don't say how old your vehicle is. Master cylinders are pretty reliable but can eventually wear out. Most master cylinders have a two separate hydraulic circuits so if one fails the other one still works but you will only have 1/2 or less of your normal braking and lots of pedal travel. Since your mechanic mentioned the servo that means you have power brakes. The power brake unit is probably OK because a defective Servo will give you a hard pedal not a soft one. If you can't find any leaks and the fluid level in the master cylinder is OK then you may need a new master cylinder. If the MC is bad then when you push down slowly on the pedal it will go down a long way before it stops. Hard to diagnose any further without more info. Do not ignore this problem could be unsafe
From experience, a soft brake pedal can be caused by: 1/Air in the brake system - bleed it out; 2/Weeping wheel cylinders - replace them; 3/Burst flexible brake hoses (usually only visible when wheels are on full lock) - replace them; 4/Leaking servo valve - replace it; 5/Master cylinder seals
