Question:

Shaking steering wheel?

Recently got into a ditch, but there wasn‘t any major damage and I got myself out of it. No scratches, dashboard lights or anything, just a cracked hub cap (which is still on). Wheel alignment is perfect at highway speeds and no tilt when braking. The only issue is when I‘m going at about80 km/h and higher the steering wheel starts vibrating and I feel like I‘m losing traction (the steering wheel no longer feels stiff along the turns). I‘m wondering what this could be. Maybe the skid created a flat spot? It was a 2001 Honda Civic

Answer:

Nobody here can tell you why your light is on unless we know the trouble code. Get it read and post it here. For all you know, you've had four different codes over the past few months. Trouble codes narrow the choices. So stop asking people to guess which of the 800 trouble codes turned on your light, get it read and then you'll have FACTS, not guesses.
A Chevrolet dealer can scan the fault code and tell you the exact reason for it. We're betting the carse is one of the emissions parts.
First, beforehand checking the alignment. Get a wash gun to the interior the sides. that is totally undemanding to get airborne dirt and dirt or rocks or ice strengthen . positioned on previous outfits so which you would be able to seem each of how over the tire. be sure the motor vehicle can't roll collectively as your crawling in there. turn the tires each of how one way , examine out , sparkling with intense tension , turn tires each of how wrong way and repeat. additionally examine that each physique tires have equivalent air tension. highway attempt. ok now if that did no longer restoration it get the alignment checked . it must be time to place some hundred money into ball joints, alignment, etc.(front end artwork) OH YEA be sure the lug nuts at the instant are not unfastened.
I think you have a bent rim on the front and once you get that fixed have the alignment checked. I know wome shops do not charge if the alignment is good so ask . The best way to check on a bent rim is go to a tire place tell them you were in a ditch and you need to check the front for a bent rim they need to put it on the tire machine to balance the car and turn it on the tire will have a pronounced wobble where the rim is bent. Once that is fixed its time to check the alignment. good luck you were lucky. sometimes there are big rocks or trees or even other cars in the way.
A shaking steering wheel always indicates a wheel out of balance. Check the inside of your rims for mud that might have packed in there when you was in the ditch.
