She said that I had to do it like that so my teeth wouldn't hit the brackets. How long is it going to be like this? I tried eating tonight and it was very difficult, since I can't close my mouth all the way, I can only chew on the cement part!Am I going to have that on for like 2 years? OH man I hope not!! Is it temporily or do you have to have it the entire treatment?
They put the cement on the molars so that the teeth don't come down and bite on the brackets because they will fall off. The cement should only have to be there until the top teeth are aligned better and won't touch the bottom brackets when you close your mouth... Maybe for a couple of adjustments? Just depends on how long it takes for your teeth to move! Also, the more you chew and everything , that cement will start to wear down and won't be so huge and noticeable! Good Luck!
This does not sound right. You need to get back to her for some further explanation and adjustment. You will not go like this for a couple of years.
Cement blob? I don't remember that part.
My orthodontist put the 'cement blob' on my teeth too for the very same reasons. You'll get used to it after a couple days and will forget it's there. Unfortunately, it will remain there until you get your braces off (or so that happened in my case). It may be annoying at first, but you honestly won't know it's there anymore after awhile.
I have the cement blobs too and couldn't chew properly to start with but it didn't take long for my teeth to move around so I can eat easily! I've had mine for 5 months now, the cement is still there. Also, get some good painkillers for tomorrow...the first day does not hurt nearly as bad as the next couple - you may only want really soft stuff over the next few days. And make sure you have dental wax, its weird but will really help you!
