Question:

short ram vs k&n air intake?

I am looking to get a better air flow for my 97 expedition. I would like to know the difference (good and bad) about the Short Ram Air Intake vs KN.

Answer:

Its true that ram air intakes suck more air into the engine but the air is hot and is the same temperature as the engine bay. Cold air intakes do just that, they suck in cooler outside air from the fenderwell. Colder air temps produce more power and better performance than warm or hot air.
short rams are cheaper. for a reason. They suck hot air into the motor and kill your power. The KN is definitely the better option.
