I'm currently using an 8 year old CRT monitor Here are the problems: 1) brightness adjustment is dead (0-100% no change at all) 2) Horizontal size is also dead (my screen is stuck @ 800x600 resolution) 3) everything is dark ( I need to adjust brightness using ATI tray tools to somewhat clearly see the pictures / videos) I can't decide whether to buy a CRT (because its cheaper) or an LCD (because its lighter and takes up less space) Here are my needs: 1) Must be economical (don't really need a huge screen about 17'' would do must not consume much electricity) 2) Must be eye friendly ( I research a lot in the net and often getting my eyes dried my optometrist said that it may increase my grades) 3) Must have good picture quality (I play games like spore, CoD4, Crysis, etc. and do office work, watch movies, etc) 4) Must have durability long lifespan
well as per ur needs.LCD suits u just fine.its perfect for u.on the contraryCRT consumes more powerisnt eye friendly.but its cheap. i strongly recommend u buyin a LCD monitor
I have not see an CRT monitor in the shops for over a year now, so it looks as if an LCD is the only new ones on the market. You might pick up a good second hand one, but I would go for the LCD. LCDs are now as good as CRT were.

What resolution are you playing at? 1024x768 @ games or lower : CRT Higher than 1024x768 : LCD It's because LCD sucks at playing low resolution games.
