Question:

Should I get a 14 aluminum or steel rim on my spare tire?

I'm driving a 2000 Toyota Corolla, I have 14quot; rims and was given a tire that will work as a spare, it just needs a rim and to be mounted. The local scrap yard sells aluminum and steel rims, $25 and $50 (might have the prices swapped as to which goes to which)My question is, which are better to go with, steel or aluminum? Which are most likely on my current vehicle?Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!Best answer lands the 10!

Answer:

Get whatever matches the rims on the carIt probably has steel unless you have the upgrade package with aluminum wheelsIt isn't going to corrode or rust away in the trunk as another here thinksIt is always best to have the same size and type spare as is on the carThe donut spares are a waste.
