Question:

Should I use aluminum foil in place of parchment paper for a roll cake? (10 pts)?

I'm making a roll cake (cake in a jelly roll pan) and the recipe calls for the use of parchment paper to avoid breaking the cake when you remove it from the panI don't have any parchment paper and can't get to the store right now.I was wondering if putting aluminum foil on the pan first would help release the cake more easily, or if I should just use nothing and pour the cake directly onto the pan.Either way I will be greasing the pan with cooking sprayWhat should I do?Thanks!

Answer:

foil does work as my daughter used it last week to make pumpkin rollmist it with oil!! my granddaughter used the foil last year for the pumpkin rolls and they turned out perfectlyI used parchment only when I owned the bakery and could afford to buy it in large sheets and used it in display pans and sticky roll and bun pans.
