Question:

Should Pargo flooring be put in kitchens?

Will water hurt Pargo flooring

Answer:

Laminate flooring is very water sensitive. It should not be wet mopped and if it gets flooded will likely be damaged or destroyed. The backing of laminate is made of pressboard which absorbs water and swells. There are different quality levels of laminate backing, but if a lot of water gets to it, or if a little water gets to it over a long period of time, you are going to have problems. Dishwasher leaks and refrigerator icemaker leaks often damage laminate and wood floors. I sell flooring for a living, I also do all the insurance claim estimating for my company. The best floors for resisting water damage are tile and fiberglass core vinyl (look for Naturcor, Armstrong Cushion Step and Tarkett). Tile is quite a bit more expensive on labor than vinyl. In any case, it's a good idea to keep your homeowners insurance premiums up to date...
You CAN use pergo flooring in a kitchen with good results.. Keeping it clean is a simple process. Sweep your floors OFTEN to rid the surface of dust/dirt and food particles.. You can also mop just don't saturate the floors with water. A slightly damp mop will take off most spots.. You can also use a liquid spray cleaner like BRUCE for spot cleaning which will protect your floor and make it shiny. I personally, don't like wood flooring in a kitchen especially if you have wood all over the house it seems to make roooms appear smaller and more closed in.. However, with the right amount of wood in a home it can be a nice and easy to care for addition to a home..... I would do a ceramic tile or something more durable and easy to care for instead of wood....
I wouldn't recommend it for the kitchen or bath areas. Hardwood floors are wonderful in living rooms, hallways, and on stairs, but you really have to think about the pros and cons of them when you consider installing them in rooms that have the potential to become wet frequently, like kitchens. This is because continuous exposure to water, such as might happen around the sink or dishwasher, can cause warping or buckling, which will mean portions of the floor will need to be replaced down the line
water wont necissarily ruin your pergo but if you spill something wipe it up immediately because its not good for the floor. Also if you thinking of installing in your kitchen maybe vinyl may work better. Check out the links I inserted and then make your decision i could be way off!
