Question:

Should you run a gable fan in the winter?

We've been getting ice dams in the winterShould we turn on our gable fan to cool off the attic? Would that help?

Answer:

Density is equal to mass/volume (dm/v) Volume is equal to mass/density (vm/d) mass is equal to densityvolume (mdv) Make sure to keep track of your units too!
Probably not Assuming you have an adequate insulation blanket, the air in your attic should be pretty coldMost gable fans are thermostat controlled to turn on for excessive heat, generally over 90FThe ice dams are usually formed by the sun melting snow from the top of the roofSince it doesn't always get warm enough to melt all of the snow, ice reforms under the snow and backs up under the shingles, causing damage and sometimes leaksThe best thing to do is to install ice dam melters on the lower portions of your roofProbably too late for this year, but look to do it next summer.
well all i can say is Dm/v denisity mass /volume (i think) sorry i hate chem and sciencce i hope this help hun
