Question:

Shouldnt all motorcycles have to have top rated/performing brakes?

I understand that as with anything you get what you pay for. But it blows my mind when I read something like the brakes on this bike aren‘t great but they‘ll stop you eventually in a motorcycle review. The brakes are a safety item and should be required to be of the highest quality and stopping power on ANY motorcycle. They may not need to be Brembos or whatever but budget brakes are unacceptable. No?

Answer:

I agree 100%. Thats why you now see most manufacturers making the change over to ABS braking systems, even on sportbikes. The new CBR's have ABS, but that system added 40 lbs. to the bike. Honda engineers decided to keep the system because it was safe, instead of worrying about making the bike lighter. Brakes are the most crucial part of your bike. No brakes, or poor brakes result in you risking your life.
The brakes of a bike variety. in many circumstances the bigger the disc (and style of discs) and the better style of pistons in the calipers, mixed with various resources, recommend a more suitable brake performance. No new bike will be offered with brakes that are incapable of forestalling a bike from its suitable speed, they extremely move the most appropriate power on a bike, actually outperforming the engine. Braking is a ability, as major as the different at the same time as operating a vehicle, they are not switches, you are able to't take care of them gently – the obstacles on braking are dictated by utilizing highway situations and the area you are able to note. there's a holding, “in user-friendly words bypass as quick as you will see that”, in different words in case you will see that in user-friendly words a short distance then you surely ought to bypass slower supplying you with time and area to brake once you hit upon a tractor only around the nook.
Who ever wrote that doesn't know crap, about brakes or anything else for that matter. Unless your racing, or going down a very large hill or mountain, riding your brakes. The quality of your brakes, is not an issue. All manufactures, use a good quality set of brakes. The only real difference, is the tire and the rider. You can take the highest quality brakes and stop in the same distance, as the stock brakes. You may or may not, get longer life out of after market brakes. But maybe only, a season or two. As long as your brakes, have enough force to lock up a wheel. Your brakes have enough, stopping power. The rest, is the rider and the tire. Mind you a touring bike, will not stop as fast as a sport bike. If you have the same size, contact patch. The heavier bike, will take longer to stop. If a rider, is used to a sport bike. A touring bike to him, will seem to take forever to stop.
