Size of Tires?

I am looking ot buy a set of rim that are 16x8 (American Racing Baja). They currently have P255/70 tires mounted on the rims. How could I find out what would be the largest tire to fit these rims? Does anyone know?Thanks

rims can accept a lot of different size tires you can mount very large tires but they wil hit the fender well or rub an the frame wen turning. this is why trucks are raised so larger tires will fit in the space. tires give the ground clearance not the raised body.

your rims are 8 wide at the seal. the best way to figure out how large you can go is to put the tires on the vehicle and measure how much space you have between the tire and the fenderwell. then go to a tire dealer and tell them your measurements and they can tell you what will work.
