Question:

Smoke detector alfa betta particles?

The alfa particles ionise the air in a small wire-mesh box. This causes a small current in the circuit. If smoke enters the box, the smoke absorbs alfa particles, which changes the current and sets off the alarm. Why would a betta particle emitter not be suitable for use in the smoke detector described? Give 2 reasons.

Answer:

Look around, you may find it laying in storage in a closet, attic, or even crawl space. Check the utility closet (furnace room) too. If you cannot find the frame, you can probably have one made, or purchase one from the manufacturer. There should be a brand label, or tag on the door .. sometimes it is on the edge, but often it is on the top. Take the frame with the glass in to your local hardware store, and they can tell you if they can make it, or if they have one in stock.. or if they need to order it, etc. Buying a new door would be the last option I would explore, unless this one is damaged. Good Luck
both are dangerous turn up the heat!
So are you saying you use your cats and dogs to warm your 11 year old? LOL I would suffer with the coughing and sore throat (and maybe see a doctor for allergy testing, clean your heating ducts, etc.) if it's only a couple of days out of the winter. Not worth risking an electrical fire, which both are notorious for starting. Turn your heat up and buy a cough suppressant. **Older heating blankets were a greater risk than today's lower voltage ones, but nevertheless, there is always the risk of it shorting out. Any heat source that has a plug attached to it - whether it has open heating elements or not - is a potential source for fire and not the best idea to be using while people are sleeping.
