Question:

smoke detectors going off!!!?

we have tried everything, cleaning, replacing batteries everything. They are interconnected and don't even go off when you turn the breaker off, can i disconnect them.

Answer:

In truth, the only example I can give you of a perfectly isolated system is the universe. And even if you theorize about the creation of the universe, you can disqualify it as an isolated system. In order for a system to be isolated: 1. no mass may cross the system boundary 2. no energy may cross the system boundary, either by heat transfer, or by work. 3. no information may cross the system boundary. This isn't necessary to be stated, because information is carried by either mass or energy. In order to accomplish qualification 1, you must perfectly seal the system. Such a system is called a closed system. It is nearly easy to do this in practice, but it is still possible for a single atom of the system to escape, without your knowledge. In order to accomplish qualification 2, you mustn't have any options for work output or input. This is easy, it just means no electrical connections and no machinery connections. Also, you must perfectly insulate the system, which is the real challenge. The only perfect insulation of conduction and convection is a vacuum, and there is never a perfect vacuum. Even if you have the system surrounded with a perfect vacuum, the mode of radiation heat transfer can still disqualify the system. The only defense against radiation is enclosing the system with perfectly reflective housing, and guess what? Perfectly reflective materials do not exist either. The spacecraft isn't an example of an isolated system, it can be disqualified as per the following. 1. Exhaust gasses used for propulsion escape the system. This disqualifies it even as a closed system. 2. Can the passengers see stars, or communicate by radio signals with Earth? This implies energy exchange.
It depends on your position, generally Japanese gloves are for outfield.
