Question:

sofa bed,futon?

ok for my room, It is really small, I was thinking of a sofa bed or futon. which one is better? I am going to be sleeping on it everday, are they comfy to sleep on? would you recomend it?? what is the price range that you would pay for each just to get a good quality futon or sofa bed

Answer:

Both sofa beds and futons really require paying the best price you can in order to get comfort. I have sold both in upscale furniture stores. Don't chintz on either. For a small room you would do better to go with a day bed and pick your own mattress therefore choosing your own ultimate comfort. Then, too, you wouldn't have to pull out your bed every night and remake it. I would definitely choose the daybed.
I would use an air mattress. (I still sleep on one of those I love them and they are light) If you are going for a larger bed then I recommend you buy one unless you really know what you are doing. The weight of a large bed can be dangerous. However these are not cheap. Advantages: easy to hide. Always made up. Way more floor space. Disadvantage: No seating (less you have a couch style), not easily moved. Takes up a wall but not bad.
Sofa beds are more expensive. As to comfort level, that's hard to judge. I slept on a sofa bed for several years...the first few years weren't bad, but eventually the bar across the middle became more pronounced and started bothering my back. I've never slept on a futon bed, but I believe they might be more comfortable...no springs on a futon. Decent sofabes $400.00+ $Futon 250.00
The functionalities of sofa beds are equally beneficial for any given room in your home. So you can easily shift it from one room to other and it will serve you with the same level of perfection. Unlike a regular sofa which is limited to a living room or lounge, a sofa bed can be placed in the bedroom, the children’s room, living room and even in the study.
