Question:

Someone doored my car, can i press legal charges?

they were over the yellow parking line, and i made sure my passenger didnt hit their car, yet there are now two dents where their door would have hit. can i press legal charges?

Answer:

Its not against the law. It was an accident. If you know who the person is you could conceivably sue them for the damages but there would be no chance that you would win.
You don't press charges...the District Attorney does and only if there is evidence of a crime having been committed by a person. Where is the crime here?
A few problems. One is that you probably don't know who it was. A second is that you actually don't know if they made the dents. (And even if you knew, knowing and proving are two different things.) And unless the damage was done intentionally, this would be a civil rather than criminal matter.
No, because you have no idea who did it. Even if there are camera's in the parking lot, the police are not going to be bothered with a couple of door dings. My question is why did you park in a parking space where the other person had parked over the line. I realize you didn't want to walk any further than you had to, but now you have two door dings.
Press charges indicates a criminal prosectution. Private citizens can't do that--it's entirely up to the prosecuting attorney of your jurisdiction. What you can do is file a civil suit for the damage to your car. Whether or not you'll win is anyone's guess.
