Question:

suspension system of diesel?

I have an 89 chevy 1500 4wd with a 6.2 litre diesel. It was originally made to be a camper special. I reinforced the rear suspension with add a leafs, but the front is horrible. It has a torsion bar. The stoppers are only a 1/4 inch above the axle. I think that‘s a little low. What can i do to beef up the front end suspension so it‘s not jarring.

Answer:

try cranking up ur torsion bars and add better shocks, now by cranking up ur front it will ride a little different but i think shocks will add a little more comfort
Raise truck front end off the ground so that wheels are suspended in the air. on 4wd underneath the truck in the middle will be the crossover support where the end of torsion bars connect. Two bolts on bottom of support ( one near each torsion bar) loosen locknut then crank equal amount of turns on each one to raise vehicle evenly. if it is as low as you say it is you can get 2-3 inchs more in height. 2wd you need taller springs or spacers that screw into spring coils or spacer pads that sit in spring cradles.
