I doubt that crickets would put out enough body heat (IR) to trip the motion detetor, otherwise people with alarm systems would have to deal with false alarms every time a spider walks across the detector or a fly buzzes past it. You are probably better off using a passive usb camera that has a very low lux capability, then write a program to record a frame per second and analyse the cricket motion frame-by-frame.
