Question:

thining of putting a cold air intake in my 323i?

i was thinking of putting an AEM cold ait intake in my bmw 323i and i have heard that in bmw cold ait intakes actually decrease power in a bmw idk if tht true or not and is it a bad idea to put one on it anywayz or no because im not sure how much horsepower it wld give

Answer:

It will not reduce Horse Power. However it won't give much power. After all, its just an air intake. But.it will make throttle response faster.
It reduces power because most of them are not designed right and will suck in hot air or if it is put in the wrong place, suck water into the engine. AEM is not the best brand for BMW. The intake and exhaust will only get you weight savings and more noise, plus the engine will break sooner because of all the extra dirt going in. The stock components are very efficient. Those germans really know what they are doing. It is just the exhaust is heavy but you don't want to lose too much weight from the back anyways. If you want power, get an EAT chip. Will not damage anything and even gives your a higher rev limit. You will get 3 times the power of the intake or exhaust at the same price. Then after chipping you can do the other mods later and then they will become more efficent.
it doesnt decrease power and its a good idea to put that more hp torque and less gas
