Question:

whats the difference between passenger tires and performance tires?

this is the first time for me buying tires. i have a 2002 dodge intrepid SE. i can‘t afford to buy super expensive tires, so i‘m wondering which ones to buy and where. my question is: what‘s the difference between passenger tires and performance tires? what would be good for my car?

Answer:

Indeed yes, and it has been coming for several decades. Most of us haven't a clue as to what is going on and many of the others really don't care. They don't care until they are truly sick, not once but several times. Our oxygen count is way down we rather drink sodas than water cigarettes, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, and other devitalized foods are plentiful on the grocery store shelves.chicken is no longer chicken, many of the steaks are now glued together and soldugh no one wants to exercise crikeywe are in trouble deep
You'll get more mileage out of passenger tires.Racing tires have a higher speed rating and a softer rubber compound usually for better grip(neither of which you need). They do not last as long because of that.Try looking at Discount Tires or Pep Boys.If your a member Sam's Club is good too.
A performance tire has been tested and has to have a speed rating posted on performance. Normal passenger tires are only guaranteed to perform at highway speed (usually the upper limit is 70) without failure. Speed rating does not mean that a tire will give better mileage or stand up to road hazards better than a standard tire. In my humble opinion the extra cost of performance tires cannot be justified unless you are actually going to be driving at high speed.
