To replace galvanized steel plumbing, does PEX piping work better than copper? Does PEX also leak?

Answer:

Pex works great! it's easy to make leak free connections, and since it is flexible, you can curve around corners instead of putting elbows. Less joints equals less potential for leaks. It goes in really fast too.
PEX is cheaper and can be easier to work with in some regards, but it is not as durable as copper. If you get copper plumbing, it will last forever. Properly installed PEX should not leak, but it can be tricky to get the connections right the first time.
i do termite work and i see a lot of copper pipes with small pin hall leeks in the m all the time and have to tell the costumers . . i see houses with PVC pips in house very seldom see leaks in copper if you see a leak it cost a lot to get it repaired by another person who can work on copper welding PVC you can fix it for $5.00 or less usually by your self . also some times good to go with 3/4 inch pipe sometimes from well or even one inch better water pressure got more water coming to house at one time
