Question:

Today the brain for my car alarm will not disarm the car alarm. Can it be deactivated manually? New battery?

Car alarm will not disarm. I had a new battery installed in the remote and still will not disarm. I can get in the car but the alarm sounds and the car will still not start with the ignition key. The symptoms lead me to believe the brain on the alarm system has failed. It is an older alarm on an old car (95 Camry) so I would like to just bypass the systemno need to keep a functioning alarm on a car of this age.Any suggestions on how to get the car back running?

Answer:

Try to find the brain, usually under the dash on the drivers side, you could probably see it without taking the dash board off. Unplug the power going to it, it will turn it off. Usually when the alarm sounds and the remote don't work, then putting the key in the ignition will turnoff the alarm. Something could of also shorted. Go to an audio place and ask them to just take a look at your car in the parking lot and see what their opinions are. Sometimes they will take a look and trouble shoot it in the parking lot and let you know with out getting into depth.
