Question:

Tube running from the catalytic converter to air intake?

What is the tube called that comes off the catalytic converter and runs back up to the air intake on the engine calledits broken on my car and I want to fix it.1992 Ford Tempo

Answer:

it probably goes to the air pump. if you have the tube, have it welded back on.
Yes there is such a thing as not enough backpressure. Typically straight through/piped exhaust is better for turbo and supercharged applications due to the amount of pressure in combustion.
it comes from the air injection reaction smog pump on the engine driven by the accessories belt it injects fresh air into the converter to help it do its job of removing carbon monoxide same as with the injection tubes in the exhaust manifolds same job/funtcion/principle some cars have this converter tube and others dont most dont alot of the old GM RWD B and G body cars did, commonly good luck
